All weights are documented in kilograms for safety; however, we can enable a setting so you can enter the weight in pounds, and we will automatically convert this to kilograms for you.
Setting Weight Minimums for Medications
To ensure patient safety, you can configure weight minimums for specific medications. This is particularly useful for medications that should not be administered to patients below a certain weight. Here’s how you can set this up:
Navigate to the Admin Section of your Instinct app.
Locate the medication for which you want to set a weight minimum.
Add a Patient Safety Warning and specify the minimum weight criteria (e.g., 2.5 kg).
Save the settings. These warnings will now appear for clinical staff when prescribing the medication. If you need to update multiple medications with similar safety warnings, you can provide a list to the Instinct support team, who can assist in making these updates efficiently.
If preferred, the feature allowing pounds can be disabled, restricting weight entry and display to kilograms only.
As shown above, this setting allows you to enter pounds in any weight field, which is then converted to kilograms.
Once you have clicked on the check mark, you are able to hover over the kilogram weight and note the weight in pounds in parentheses.
