User context in Instinct EMR and Instinct Treatment Plan stores a user's cache and cookies. Clearing user context can resolve occasional display bugs and miscellaneous error messages. Make sure the user is logged out before clearing their context.
What is “user context”?
User context is the app remembering a user's setup and last activity, such as:
Where they were last in the app before they logged out
How their Status Boards are set up (layout, filters, sorting, presets)
Information typed into forms but not yet submitted (like comm log entries, treatment notes, etc.)
When should this be used?
Instinct users with the admin_staff permission can clear user context when:
There's been a big update or data change and things might not match users' saved settings anymore (eg, a user's saved filters reference something that no longer exists after an Instinct update)
Some users seem "stuck" or "in a loop"
Note: The user whose context is being cleared should be logged out for the reset to work correctly. |
When shouldn't this be used?
There has been an outage involving an integration partner; instead, please contact the integration partner's support team for more assistance
An issue is happening outside of Instinct
All staff are being affected. Instead, this could indicate a system wide error that needs to be reported directly to the support team
An error message clearly explains an issue that can be resolved
To solve a long standing issue that a ticket has already been submitted for
To clear an issue in Stockroom
How to clear context for a single user
Search for the user in Admin → Staff
Click Clear Context located on the right side of the staff member’s name
The Clear Context option is available for all Active users in the Staff list
How to clear context for all users
Go to Admin → Staff → Manage
Select Clear All User Contexts.
This resets the saved app state for all users at once—use it when issues are widespread and you want to give everyone a fresh start.
