Working on a Chart Document Prior to a Patient's Visit

It can certainly be a time saver to begin working on a patient's chart document prior to being checked in for a visit. The best way to do this would be to start the chart document under the Non-Visit Documents section of the patient's Chart tab.

This section allows you to create, edit, and attach Standalone documents to a patient’s chart without having to check them in.

Suggested uses for a Standalone Chart includes:

  • Seizure log

  • i131 treatment log

  • Chemo flow sheet

  • Blood glucose curves

  • Medication change log

  • Radiation treatment log

  • Pet sitter authorization form

  • Long term recurring blood test log

  • Preparing documents in advance of appointments

  • referring hospital medical records

Creating Chart Documents

Create a Chart Document by clicking on the New Document button, to search for and select a charting template. The Chart Document will show No Visit at the top of the document. To move this document to a Visit Card, click on ‘No Visit’ and select the Visit Card Date you would like to move the document to.
