Order and complete a Bionote treatment
Bionote-mapped treatments are scheduled and completed the same way as any other treatment in Instinct. Mapped products display a diagnostic icon on both the Order tab and the treatment line item on the Treatment Sheet.
Add the mapped Bionote product to the patient's Treatment Sheet as you would any other order.
Complete the treatment on the Treatment Sheet, in Ax Mode, or via One-Off.
Once the treatment is marked complete, the Complete button changes to View Results, and a Bionote Chart document is automatically created with a status of Pending.
Note: The diagnostic icon does not display when a Bionote product is ordered as a One-Off, but One-Off can still be used to initiate a Bionote request. Only full results will appear in Instinct — partial results will not.
Chart status progression
Bionote Chart documents move through four statuses:
Pending: Created automatically when the treatment is completed. Instinct is waiting for results from Bionote.
To Review: Results are available. Open the Chart document to review them.
To Share: Manually update to indicate the results are ready to share with the client or referring veterinarian.
Complete: Manually update when results have been reviewed and shared.
View lab results
When the Chart document reaches To Review status, open the chart in the side panel.
The results PDF appears as an attachment under the Attachment section.
Click the attachment to open the PDF for review.
Click View Results on the treatment line to open the chart document directly, or View Form to view, download, or print the requisition PDF.
Share results with a client or referring veterinarian
Results can be shared in the following ways:
Select Print at the bottom of the Chart pane to generate a PDF for printing.
Results are available in the Print Record and Comm Log Attachments menus.
If the rVet Sharing toggle is enabled and a referring veterinarian is assigned, results will also be available in Shareville.
If the Pet Portal toggle is enabled, results will be available in the Pet Owner Portal.
Note: rVet Sharing for lab requests is toggled On by default. If you do not want results shared automatically with the referring veterinarian, turn this toggle off during the ordering process.
Void a Bionote lab request
Once a lab request has been submitted, void it via the 3-dot menu on the treatment line or in the Chart side panel.
Warning: Voiding in Instinct does not cancel the requisition with Bionote. Contact Bionote directly to cancel the requisition. Remember to update the patient's Treatment Sheet and invoice for the canceled order.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see results in Instinct yet?
Results appear once Bionote has processed the sample and returned a final result. Partial results will not appear — only complete results display in Instinct.
Can I use One-Off to initiate a Bionote request?
Yes. You can use One-Off to complete a Bionote-mapped product, though the diagnostic icon will not display when ordered this way.
What happens if I add a Bionote product directly to an Estimate or Invoice?
Adding a product to an Estimate or Invoice does not create or complete a treatment, so that no lab request will be sent to Bionote.
