Before you begin
You must have the admin_estimates permission to create, edit, or assign a location to an Estimate Template.
Create an estimate template
Go to Admin → Medical Record → Estimates and select New Template.
Name the template, choose a PIMS ID, and if you are a practice using Multi-Location Pricing, you must select a location before adding products to the template.
Add existing products or groups within the template screen.
Customize the default Freq, Qty, and Low/High values.
Include any exam or hospitalization charges in the template, ensuring they are not missed on the estimate.
Indicating a default duration (low/high) helps provide a financial range on the estimate. Template changes automatically save.
If you were previously using Product Groups to build estimates, you can locate that existing Product Group and convert it to the Estimate Template format. You can also insert an existing Estimate Template within a new template.
Tip: The Low amount can be greater than the High amount on an estimate, helping you provide a full range of care options and discounts (for example, a GDV estimate with and without a splenectomy). |
Estimate template location
Practices using Multi-Location Pricing (MLP) assign each estimate template to a single location, ensuring the right template and pricing appear at the right site.
When a practice is switched to MLP, Instinct EMR automatically copies all existing estimate templates for each location. When you create a new estimate template, choose a location for it before adding products. Once the template is saved, its location cannot be changed.
Estimate templates can be filtered by location, making it easier to find the right one in a list.
Note: Only templates for the patient's checked-in location are available to choose from when adding a template to an estimate. If the patient is currently checked out, Instinct EMR uses their last check-in location instead. |
Edit your estimate footer
The Estimate Footer allows you to display your practice's policies, terms and conditions, and a signature line for practices that prefer a physical signature approval from the client. The footer text remains editable, so you can add custom text.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move an estimate template to a different location after creating it?
No. A template's location is set when you create it and cannot be changed afterward. Create a new template for the additional location instead.
