Hospitals can create an Inventory or Hospital Use Patient within the system. This patient is used exclusively for inventory purposes. In instances where you do not want to track every single consumable but rather track when you take boxes out of inventory to use within the clinic, the following workflow would be recommended:
Within Instinct EMR, create a new patient; this will be used for inventory purposes only, so name it accordingly to inform everyone.
Example:
You can then invoice for boxes opened of inventory that will deplete from stockroom.
⚡ It is also recommended that you create an Inventory Provider to differentiate between items used solely for inventory purposes and those used for actual production.
Tips
This method can also be used to track items within the clinic, such as sponges, tongue depressors, cotton swabs, cast padding, and more.
Any staff member can add an inventory item to the patient, making it easy to keep QoH accurate.
We recommend closing the “Inventory Patient” invoice every 30 days and using it as an audit list.
