The Referrals Overview Dashboard connects each referred patient to the revenue they bring into your practice, providing a comprehensive picture of referral performance. With visibility into top-performing partners, trends in relationship strength, and areas of unmet potential, you can proactively manage partnerships and continually optimize your referral strategy.
🚨Important: Referrers are associated with patients, not individual visits. This dashboard attributes visits (and their revenue) to any referrer who was active on the patient’s record when the visit was completed.

Dashboard Structure
Tab 1: Summary
The Summary section provides a high-level view of referral activity and financial performance using closed invoices within the selected date range. It displays key metrics by referring hospital (rHosp), including the number of referring hospitals with visits, total visits from patients with referrals, and revenue generated from referral visits. The tab also includes a monthly referral trend showing referral revenue and discounts over time, along with a detailed trend table that breaks out revenue, discounts, rHosp count, and referring veterinarian (rVet) count by month.
The By Referrer section further breaks down performance by showing total referral revenue by rHosp, each hospital’s percentage contribution to overall referral revenue, and a detailed table of visit counts, revenue, and discounts by both referring veterinarian and referring hospital, enabling clear insight into referral volume, trends, and revenue contribution at both the hospital and provider level.
Tab 2: Details
The Details tab provides a comprehensive view of every patient visit associated with a specific referrer, offering deeper insights into referral activity and visit outcomes. Please note that a patient’s provider, service, and/or ward may change over the course of a visit. As a result, the information shown reflects the patient’s details as they appear at the time of checkout.
Note: This tab has one line per referrer, so a patient who has multiple referrers can have revenue counted for each referrer on that visit. Therefore, summing the revenue from the Details tab will likely not give you the same total revenue generated from referrals as the Summary tab.
How Referral Attribution Works
Linking Visits to Referrers
Since referrals are tracked at the patient level (not the visit level), we attribute visits to a referrer based on timing:
A visit is credited to a referrer if the visit was completed while that referrer was active on the patient’s record.
Specifically, a visit is attributed to a referrer when:
The referrer was added to the patient on or before the visit was completed, AND
The referrer was still active (not yet removed) on or after the visit was completed
Visit completion is determined by whichever is later: the patient checkout time or the invoice close time.
Revenue Attribution
All revenue from an attributed visit is recognized on the date the invoice closes.
Patients with Multiple Referrers
If a patient has multiple active referrers when a visit is completed, that visit (and its revenue) will be attributed to each active referrer.
