How to Manage Shareville Notification Settings

Written by Melissa Duarte

In Shareville, Instinct's portal for referring veterinarians, you can choose which notifications you receive about your shared patients. Whether you sign in as a referring practice or as an individual referring doctor, you can turn each notification type on or off from the Settings page.

Turn notifications on or off

  1. Sign in to Shareville.

  2. At the top left of any screen, select Settings.

  3. On the Settings page, toggle each notification type on or off:

  • Patient Check-Out

  • Patient Deceased

  • Shared Chart Document Digest

Note: All three notifications are enabled by default. Toggling a setting automatically saves the change. There's no separate Save button. Patient check-in notifications aren't part of these settings and are always sent when a shared patient arrives.

Manage settings as a practice or an individual doctor

Shareville treats a referring practice's sign-in and an individual referring doctor's sign-in as separate accounts, each with its own notification settings.

  • Signing in as the referring practice changes settings only for the practice-level account, not for any individual referring doctor at that practice.

  • Signing in as an individual referring doctor lets you manage your own settings independently. For example, you can disable the Shared Chart Document Digest for yourself while your practice keeps it enabled, or vice versa.

  • For a referring doctor to receive their own notifications, the practice you refer patients to needs to add them under the referring veterinarian section of the patient's chart in Instinct EMR, separate from the general practice contact information.

Signing out and back in, whether as the practice or as an individual doctor, does not change or reset the other account's settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do my settings take effect right away?

Yes. After you turn off a notification type, you stop receiving that notification going forward. Turning it back on takes effect the same way.

Do my settings stay the same after I sign out and back in?

Yes. Your notification settings are saved to your account and persist across sessions.

Why can't I toggle my notification settings?

The practice you refer patients to may have turned off Shareville notifications for your practice entirely. When that happens, Shareville displays a banner noting that notifications have been disabled, and neither your practice nor any individual referring doctor can toggle settings until they're re-enabled. Contact that practice directly with any questions.
