Linking a Referrer to a Patient

When adding or checking in a new patient, you will have an option to include the referring veterinarian or hospital.

When adding or checking in a new patient, you will have an option to include the referring veterinarian or hospital, or associate additional veterinarians and hospitals to a patient’s care team.

Clicking the hospital icon will add a new referring hospital to your Instinct database, or search by rHosp or rVet name to find an existing rVet already in your Instinct database.

Adding a referrer during this step is not required and you’ll still be able to add or modify this information after check-in with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Business Office

  2. Patient Registration

  3. Search for the pet’s name and click to edit the patient information

  4. Search for an existing rHosp/rVet to add or use the 3-dot menu to remove the rHosp/rVet

You can also quickly add or edit the Referring Veterinarian by clicking directly on the Referred By header in the Patient Info Bar within the Patient Visit screen.

If a referrer is not added to the patient’s account before check-in and misses the initial notification, your team can resend the link at any time using the rVet Sharing button at the top of the Chart screen and select Resend Email.
