Weight-Based Medication Review
When a patient's weight changes significantly, active medication dosages may no longer be accurate. Weight-Based Medication Review automatically flags active medications for review after a weight change that meets your configured threshold—reducing the risk of dosage errors before they reach the patient.
When triggered, your team can review each affected medication, choose to keep the original dose or update it to the patient's current weight, and adjust quantities—all within a single workflow.
You can configure the weight change percentage threshold that triggers a review for each medication, so your team is only prompted when it matters.

Practice Library
Practice Library gives your team one central place to store and find practice documents directly inside Instinct EMR—no more shared drives, email threads, or files scattered across desktops.
Supported file types include PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and common image files.
With Practice Library, your team can:
Search for documents by title
Preview files without downloading them
Organize documents by practice location

Procedures Snapshot
The Procedures Snapshot Widget adds a procedure history timeline directly to the Patient Snapshot page, giving your team a complete picture of a patient's procedure history without searching through past visits or chart documents.
The widget includes:
A chronological timeline of all procedures in the patient's history
Search for a specific procedure by name
Manual entry for procedures performed at another practice or before the practice started using Instinct
Procedures completed in Ax Mode are automatically populated in the widget. Visit our Procedures article for more details.
New integration partners
Instinct EMR's open ecosystem has expanded with two new integration partners:
AllyDVM: Gives practices direct access to client communication and workflow tools, including automated reminders, two-way texting, online booking, and practice analytics.
RadsForVets: Automatically delivers finalized radiology reports directly into the corresponding radiology order in Instinct via the open API.

Other noteworthy improvements from July 2026
Universal Search now includes invoices and accounts. Search by invoice number, account name, phone number, or account ID and jump directly to the invoice or ledger from results. See Universal Search to learn more.
Universal Search and Global Navigation have moved to the top of your screen. Toggle both on in Profile → Preferences for an early preview—they will become the default experience in the coming weeks. For more details, see User Preferences.
General Ledger view is now available. A new end-of-day report shows Revenue, Discounts, Payments, and AR together in one view for reconciliation. For more details, see General Ledger Report.
In-app notifications are live for all EMR and IPC practices. A Notifications icon now appears in the sidebar, starting with integration sync updates and direct booking alerts. To learn more about types of notifications, visit Notifications.
Reminders by Appointment Type are now available to all EMR and IPC customers. Set customized reminder rules for specific appointment types so clients arrive prepared.
Weight history can now be recorded outside of a visit. Your team can log a patient's weight without checking them in.
Appointment time picker defaults to the next 5-minute interval. Time selection in the new appointment form is faster.
Comm Log now shows patient care reminders. Staff can see every preventive care reminder sent for a patient—including failed and skipped sends—directly from the Comm Log.
Failed email delivery is flagged in real time. If a Comm Log email fails to send, staff receive an in-app notification immediately.
Care reminders now send at 7 AM in the practice's local time zone. A fix ensures reminders go out at the right time of day.
Cash payments now track the amount tendered. The physical cash amount received is recorded in the ledger, so the change due is calculated and tracked accurately.
Patient safety warnings now appear in one-off medication orders. If a quantity falls outside a configured safety range for that species, a red warning shows the current dose and the safe range.
Appointment calendar popovers now show more detail. Hover over an appointment to see a quick summary; click for full details. Drop-off appointments behave the same way.
Vaccine certificates now include imported vaccines. Certificates reflect a patient's full vaccine history, including vaccines recorded in other systems.
Pet Portal now shows clinic details for upcoming appointments. Pet owners can see practice information directly in the appointment view.
Automations now include a Send Email action. Trigger a personalized email to a list of recipients when a workflow runs, with patient name, client name, appointment details, and more.
Automation categories are now visible on the Automations page. Visual category badges make it easier to see which workflows are active.
Printing an invoice now includes scheduled reminders. The new Invoice with reminders print option adds a page that lists all upcoming appointments for each patient under the account.
