Parasight System Setup

Written by Meridythe Lanoue

In Instinct EMR, the Parasight Diagnostic Integration allows your practice to send lab orders directly to Parasight and receive results automatically within the patient record. This article explains how to set up the integration, map products, run lab orders, and view results.

Before you begin

  • You must have the admin_integrations permission assigned to your role to set up and manage Parasight credentials. Navigate to Admin → Practice → Staff → Manage User Roles to confirm or update your permissions.

  • Contact your Parasight representative to obtain your Instinct setup credentials (username, password, and clinic ID). For questions, email [email protected].

Set up Parasight credentials

  1. Navigate to Admin → Practice → Integrations.

  2. Locate Parasight System and click Add Credentials.

  3. Enter your Username, Password, and Clinic ID in the modal that opens.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Activate next to Parasight System to enable the integration.

Note: If the Admin → Practice → Integrations page is not visible, contact Instinct support via the in-app messenger or email [email protected] to have it enabled for your practice.

Map Parasight products

Mapping connects your Instinct products to the corresponding Parasight lab tests, ensuring orders are generated correctly and results are returned automatically.

  1. Go to Admin → Practice → Integrations and select Manage Services for the Parasight System.

  2. Click on the Services tab and navigate to the Disabled services tab.

  3. For each service that your practice will use, toggle the DIsabled toggle to Enabled. This will move each enabled service to the Enabled services tab.

  4. Navigate to the Enabled services tab, find an enabled service, and click +Add to open the mapping window to choose the appropriate test for each service.

Note: Products from different integration sources cannot be mapped together on a single Instinct product. Create a separate product for each integration source (for example, one CBC product for Zoetis Reference Lab and a separate CBC product for Parasight).

Map multiple test codes to a single product

If a single order should trigger multiple Parasight tests, you can add more than one integration product to the same Instinct product by following the steps above.

When a product with multiple test codes is ordered and completed, the requisition form will include all mapped test codes, and all results will consolidate into a single PDF.

Unmap a Parasight product

  1. Open Manage Services.

  2. Click the icon to the right of the integration product you want to remove.

Schedule and complete Parasight treatments

Parasight treatments are scheduled and completed the same way as any other treatment in Instinct. Mapped Parasight products display a diagnostic icon on both the Order tab and the treatment line item on the Tx screen.

  1. Add the mapped Parasight product to the patient's treatment sheet, in Ax Mode, or via One-Off.

  2. Complete the treatment as usual. This automatically creates a Parasight Chart document with a Pending status and sends the order to Parasight.

  3. Once results are available, the chart status updates to To Review and a View Results button appears in place of Complete on the treatment.

Note: Adding a Parasight product directly to an Estimate or Invoice does not create or complete a treatment and will not initiate a lab request.

Chart status progression

Each Parasight lab order creates a corresponding Chart document that moves through the following statuses:

  • Pending: Chart is created automatically when the treatment is completed and the order is sent to Parasight.

  • To Review: Results have been received. Open the chart document to view the results PDF.

  • To Share: Results have been reviewed and are ready to share with the client or a referring veterinarian. Update the status manually when ready.

  • Complete: Results have been reviewed and shared. Update the status manually when done.

View and share laboratory results

When a chart reaches To Review status, open the chart document in the side panel. The results PDF will appear as an attachment under the Attachment section. Click the attachment to open and review the PDF.

Results can be shared in the following ways:

  • Select Print at the bottom of the Chart pane to generate a PDF for printing.

  • Results are also available in the Print Record and Comm Log Attachments menus.

  • If the rVet Sharing toggle is enabled and an rVet is assigned, results will also appear in Shareville.

  • If the Pet Portal toggle is enabled, results will be available in the Pet Owner Portal.

Note: The rVet Sharing toggle is ON by default for lab requests. If you do not want results shared automatically with the rVet, turn this toggle off when completing the ordering process.

Void a Parasight order

Once a lab request has been submitted, you can void it from the 3-dot menu or within the chart side panel. When you void an order, the chart document updates to To Review status and the resulting PDF will indicate that the order was canceled. Remember to update the patient's treatment sheet and invoice to reflect the cancellation.
