The User Dashboard in Instinct EMR is a personalized home screen that gives staff one place to orient, catch up, and see what needs their attention—without navigating multiple parts of the app. Everything on the dashboard reflects your own work, not the practice's.
Access the User Dashboard
All staff can select Dashboard from the main left-hand navigation inside Instinct EMR.
Dashboard sections
The dashboard launches with three sections visible by default. Each one is personalized to your account.
Recent
Shows up to 24 patients you've recently visited inside Instinct EMR. Click any card to jump directly back to that patient. Use the chevron arrows or swipe to scroll through results. Your recent history persists across sessions—signing out and back in will not clear it.
At a glance
Tasks
Shows your tasks that are due today, upcoming, or overdue. You can create, complete, and interact with tasks directly from this section without leaving the dashboard.
Incomplete Charts
Shows all of your chart documents (chart documents where the assigned provider is yourself) currently in In Progress status. Click any chart to open it directly. Use the filter drop-down to narrow by date or document type, the search field to find a specific patient, and the sort controls to reorder results.
Note: Documents awaiting a client signature aren't shown here. This section only includes documents that need your attention and are assigned to you as the provider. If you see something here that seems incorrect, contact Instinct Support. |
Patients Cared For Today
A single count showing the number of patient visits you've meaningfully contributed to today. A patient is included if you edited a chart document, marked a treatment, checked them in or out, collected a payment on their behalf, or their visit is assigned to you as the provider. The count resets daily.
What's New in EMR
Surfaces our latest product updates, blog posts, and articles. Click any item to open it directly.
Customize your dashboard
Open the dashboard settings using the menu option next to your name at the top of the page.
Under General settings, you can toggle the following on or off individually:
Weather, Time, and Date: displayed in the dashboard header by default
Patient profile pictures: shown on recent patient cards by default; when turned off, cards display the patient's name, signalment, and key details only
Pet mascot: off by default; choose a cat, dog, or goose to appear on your dashboard
Under Widgets settings, you can show or hide individual widgets using the toggles and drag them to reorder how they appear on your page.
Note: Dashboard preferences are personal. Any changes you make affect only your own view and do not change anyone else's dashboard. |
Frequently asked questions
Who can access the User Dashboard?
The User Dashboard is available to all Instinct EMR customers. Instinct Treatment Plan (ITP) users do not have access. Everything on your dashboard is personal to you—other users cannot see your view.
Why are some of my charts not showing up in Incomplete Charts?
The Incomplete Charts widget only shows documents with an In Progress status. Documents waiting on a client signature are excluded.
Is there a bulk complete option for Incomplete Charts?
Not at this time. Charts are to be completed individually by clicking through them and marking them as Complete. A bulk-complete option is planned for the future.
Will the dashboard change my existing workflow?
No. The dashboard is entirely additive. Your existing navigation and workflows remain unchanged—the User Dashboard is a new surface, not a replacement for anything.
When will there be more Dashboard sections?
More sections will be added over time. Submit a feature request to share ideas for the Dashboard via the in-app chat: select Ask a Question → Submit a Ticket → New Feature Idea.
