September brought four major updates to Instinct EMR: a new personal dashboard, smarter search, automated follow-ups for aging balances, and a new radiology integration, plus a long list of smaller improvements. Each featured update below links to a full walkthrough article.
Catch up on your day at a glance with the User Dashboard
The new User Dashboard gives every user a single home base for tracking their day in Instinct EMR. From the dashboard, you can click directly into any chart that's In Progress, see what's overdue, jump back to recently viewed patients, and catch up on the latest release notes without pulling a report or building a spreadsheet.
User Dashboard is now live for all Instinct EMR and Instinct EMR for Primary Care (IPC) practices. For a full walkthrough, see User Dashboard: Your Personal Home Base in Instinct EMR.
Find patients, invoices, and documents with Universal Search
Universal Search now reaches well beyond patients. Search covers patients, accounts, invoices, chart titles, Practice Library documents, and pages, all from one place. A partial name or invoice number is enough to get you to the right record, and additional filters help you narrow down exactly what you need.
Universal Search replaces Patient Search and is available at the top of your navigation panel. For a full walkthrough, see How to Use Universal Search.
Put financial follow-ups on autopilot with a new automation trigger
Instinct EMR now offers a new automation trigger that fires when an account balance ages past 30, 60, 90, or 120 days, automatically creating a follow-up task or notification so no one has to remember to pull a report.
It's one of 14+ automation templates ready to use in Instinct EMR, alongside templates that send a drug handout when a prescription is dispensed, create a follow-up task at check-out, or generate a document when a treatment is completed.
Pick a template, adjust it to your practice, and turn it on in Admin → Practice → Automations. For a full walkthrough on creating automations, see How Do I Create an Automation?
Simplify radiology workflows with the new SignalPET integration
Instinct EMR now integrates with SignalPET, connecting your radiology workflow directly to the patient record. Patient history can flow directly from Instinct EMR into SignalPET, and completed radiology reports can automatically return to the patient record, reducing manual data entry, duplicate work, and switching between systems.
Other improvements
Here are the additional improvements we made to Instinct EMR this month:
Scheduling and client communication
Direct Booking location controls: Multi-location practices can now enable or disable Direct Booking per location, and set allowed doctors, appointment types, and notification recipients for each location.
Doctor names on the Pet Portal: Doctor names now appear on every appointment row in the Pet Portal's Appointments page, so clients can see who's on the schedule.
Billing and end of day
International payments support: Practices using European currency conventions can now process payments, manage statements, and issue refunds on the Payments Ledger without manual formatting workarounds.
Financials tab quick filters: New quick filters let you jump straight to accounts with open invoices, checked-in patients, $0 balance issues, or account alerts. See Financials Tab and Account Ledger for more details.
Flexible estimate terms: You can now customize the terms and conditions on individual estimates with full rich-text formatting before a client signs it.
Help Center (Careville) and branding
Updated help center links: Help center links across Instinct EMR and Stockroom now point to the updated help center, Instinct Careville.
Refreshed branding: Instinct, Instinct EMR, and Instinct EMR for Primary Care (IPC) now have new logos across the platform.
